4 slices of sourdough bread

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

1/2 cup pepperoni slices

1/4 cup pizza sauce

1/4 teaspoon dried oregano

1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

2 tablespoons butter

Fresh basil leaves for garnish

Start by gathering all your ingredients in one place to make the process smoother.

    Heat a skillet over medium heat. While it's heating, spread one side of each slice of sourdough bread with butter.

      On the non-buttered side of two slices of bread, spread a generous tablespoon of pizza sauce.

        Sprinkle half of the shredded mozzarella on top of the sauce, followed by a layer of pepperoni slices.

          Sprinkle the remaining mozzarella over the pepperoni, then add a dash of dried oregano and garlic powder for added flavor.

            Top with the other two slices of bread, buttered side up.

              Place the assembled sandwich in the skillet and grill for about 3-4 minutes until the bottom is golden brown and the cheese is starting to melt.

                Carefully flip the sandwich and cook the other side for another 3-4 minutes, pressing down slightly to ensure even cooking.

                  Once both sides are golden and crispy and the cheese is melted, remove the grilled cheese from the skillet.

                    Let it sit for a minute before cutting it in half to allow the cheese to settle slightly. Garnish with fresh basil leaves if desired, and serve warm with extra pizza sauce for dipping.
