1 box angel food cake mix

1 cup water

1 tsp vanilla extract

1/2 cup granulated sugar

1 tbsp ground cinnamon

Vegetable oil for frying

Optional: Chocolate sauce for dipping

In a large mixing bowl, prepare the angel food cake mix by combining it with the water and vanilla extract. Stir vigorously until completely combined and fluffy.

    Heat vegetable oil in a deep skillet or pot over medium heat. You’ll need enough oil to fully submerge the churro bites.

      While the oil is heating, in a separate bowl, mix together the granulated sugar and ground cinnamon. Set aside for coating the churro bites.

        Once the oil is hot (about 350°F or 180°C), carefully spoon small amounts of the angel food cake batter into the oil. You can use a small cookie scoop or two tablespoons for uniformity.

          Fry the bites in batches for about 2-3 minutes, or until they turn golden brown. Be sure not to overcrowd the pot.

            Using a slotted spoon, remove the churro bites from the oil and let them drain on paper towels for a few moments.

              While they're still warm, roll the churro bites in the cinnamon-sugar mixture until well coated.

                Serve immediately with a side of chocolate sauce for dipping, if desired.
